The basic warranty is usually longer than at mainstream brands, which can matter if you keep your vehicle for several years.

If you are comparing a midsize luxury SUV with a well-equipped mainstream model, look closely at what the price difference buys. Often it is refinement, dealer service and features rather than extra space or capability, which is worth paying for if those are what you value most.
